St Fagans National Museum of Welsh Life was transformed for an evening of glitz and glamour on Friday as it played host to St John Cymru’s Centenary Charity Ball.
Dr Hilary Jones GP, took to the stage as host for the evening as the charity showcased the outstanding achievements of Wales’ leading first aid charity St John Cymru from across the last century.
Guests were treated to a three-course meal and celebrated not only the difference St John Cymru has made in local communities and at and events across Wales, but also recognised two inspirational stories from people who had put their first aid skills into practise.
Guest speaker Laura Campbell from Barry, who was trained in first aid by St John Cymru, took to the stage to recollect her own emotional experience of using her first aid skills in an emergency situation which saw a standing ovation from the audience.
Centenary Appeal Manager and event organiser Samantha Coles said:
“We’re absolutely delighted with how the centenary ball went.
“Dr Hilary was, without a doubt, the absolute right choice to host the evening and brought his own personal experience to the night which really resonated with our guests and supported our belief in the importance of first aid.
“We want to say a huge thank you to all of our fantastic sponsors and to all who attended for making the evening so special and truly a night to remember,” she added.
