St John Cymru is proud to be adorning rainbow epaulettes demonstrating its support for the LGBTQ+ community during this year’s Pride Cymru parade in Cardiff city centre on Saturday 25th August, which is set to be the biggest yet.
The rainbow epaulettes were introduced by CEO Julia Hobbs as a way to show St John Cymru’s commitment to equality and diversity not just within the diverse organisation itself but also its involvement within the wider community.
Julia Hobbs said:
“We decided on introducing rainbow epaulettes to show our support at this year’s Pride Cymru festival.
“We want our volunteers to know they are valued for their lifesaving skills no matter what their gender or sexuality and are able to express themselves proudly in an inclusive and safe environment.
“We believe that first aid is for everyone regardless of age, mobility, gender, race, religion or sexual orientation. Taking part in this year’s parade coupled with our new epaulettes is yet another way in which we can demonstrate this important message. We wish everyone attending this weekend’s events a safe and happy Pride.”
St John Cymru volunteers will be showcasing their epaulettes and parading with their most impressive and supportive banner yet alongside one of its ambulances during Saturday’s Pride Cymru parade which will begin on North Road in Cardiff. The parade will then loop down St Mary’s street before making its way back via Westgate Street.
